2021 in the Adelaide Hills has been recognised as one of the great vintages…..and we agree. Plenty of rain early in the season, with no major weather events and a long, dry ripening period all culminated to produce Pinot Noir of both intensity and elegance. Whilst a quarter of this wine is made up of our old block 777 clone, the rest is made up for the first time from our new block on the property. Containing clones 667, 115 and Abel, these vines are at a higher density, higher altitude and on an east facing slope. Due to this, our 2021 Pinot is the first of its kind and has us excited. To have the structure and smokiness of the infamous Abel clone, the perfume of the 777, the strawberry elegance of 115, the spiciness and texture of 667 all blended together to form a complete and uniquely Scanlon Pinot Noir.
